Mammography Breast Exams
A mammogram is an X-ray image of your breast. It can be used to find and diagnose breast cancer. Your doctor may order a mammogram if you have possible breast cancer symptoms, such as a breast lump, pain or discharge from a nipple. Screenings can also
look for noncancerous or benign tumors and cysts before they can be felt. So while monthly breast self-exams are important, the American Cancer Society recommends considering routine yearly mammograms starting at age 40. (However, if you are at risk
for breast cancer you may benefit from a mammogram earlier. Consult with your doctor to discuss earlier screening if you are at risk.)
At Resolute Baptist, we go out of our way to make your breast exam as peaceful and comfortable as possible. We understand that medical exams can be frightening and stressful. But you can rest assured that our caring and compassionate imaging team will
provide you with an exceptional personal experience.
State-of-the-Art Technology
Resolute Baptist has invested in the latest state-of-the-art technology to give our radiologists a better view of your breast. Breast tomosynthesis, or 3-D mammography, provides much greater detail when compared to a standard 2-D mammogram. It can be used
as part of your annual screening mammogram or as a diagnostic tool. 3-D mammography exams allow a radiologist to examine your breast tissue layer by layer. So, instead of viewing all the complexities of your breast tissue in the flat image, as with
conventional 2-D mammography, the radiologist can see the fine details that may have been hidden on a conventional 2-D exam. This may allow for earlier detection of breast cancer and may result in fewer callbacks for additional diagnostic imaging.
At Resolute Baptist, our goal is to make mammograms as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Schedule your mammogram at Resolute Baptist today!
